
On Thursday, the Eiffel Tower will turn off its lights for five minutes. Why? To draw attention and support for a campaign to help conserve energy. The campaign is called "Five Minutes of Respite for the Planet" and is coinciding with the gathering of world experts in Paris who are going over a report on global warming. Already, the Eiffel Tower has changed its lighting system to reduce energy consumption by 30 percent, according to the SETE agency that manages it. You can read the article
