Army Wives Report Sunday

If you're not a regular to the Lifetime channel you may not be aware of a new show launching on Sunday called Army Wives. This article from USA Today says "Though the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan underlie the story lines, the series is more about the home front than the firefights that underscored cable TV's last big scripted military series, FX's Over There." Here's the full specs, "Army Wives is the first of three new Sunday series aimed at attracting the women viewers who made Lifetime a cable network powerhouse in the 1990s. On July 15, Lifetime pairs Wives with Side Order of Life (8 ET/PT) and State of Mind (9 ET/PT)." Here's the full review.

Real Estate Roller Coaster

This has got to be one of the coolest and most interesting ways to view the current state of real estate. This video is about 3 minutes long, but it will give you an idea about how out of whack the real estate market currently is. Under the YouTube sign you can see the years flashing by. I guess the nice part is that the coaster is starting to at least level off.

Invest In Your Wife

If you were worth billions of dollars, would you give your wife a couple million to help her start a business? Sergey Brin, a co-founder of Google has married Anne Wojcicki and according to SEC filings invested $3.9 million in her business 23andMe. 23andMe's website says by encouraging individuals to learn about their own genetic information, the company will create a common, standardized resource that has the potential to accelerate drug discovery and bring personalized medicine to the public. A Really Cool Gift Finder

Workout At Work

When you graduate from college, you think you're going to drop those extra pounds you packed on because of all the extra time you'll have. Unfortunately, working for The Man means your booty stays in a chair for eight hours and continues to grow. Well, that's about to change. Researchers at the Mayo Clinic have designed a stand-up desk with a treadmill underneath. The desk runs $1,600 and will be available for purchase through office-furniture maker Steelcase Inc. Fourteen women and one man tested the new treadmill-desk and found that it did not disrupt their workflow and nobody fell off. Hey, that's a pretty good sign. Read the whole article here.

Divorce Rates Lowest Since 1970

You think we're quick to pull the trigger on a divorce? Think again. Not since 1970 have the divorce rates in the US been this low. Theories vary for why this is, but it's not really a coincidence that hitched has been publishing stories for almost a year and these rates are at a 35+ year low--you're welcome.

Divorce Rates in the U.S. peaked in 1981 at 5.3 divorces per 1,000 people. The rates are currently at 3.6 per 1,000 people. Not too shabby. Some experts believe it's because people are living together more before marriage, some credit better education, and some say it's because couples are waiting longer to get married. Other experts contend that less affluent and less educated couples still have a high divorce rate. Read more here.

Kool-Aid Dills

Looking for a new, cool summertime snack? Ever heard of Kool-Aid pickles? These are dill pickles that take a bath in Kool-Aid. The result is bright candy-colored pickles that reflect the choice of Kool-Aid used. According to this NY Times article (registration required), these "candy pickles" are growing in popularity in the South. They definitely look interesting, if you're brave enough to try it once let us know what you think. Or you could have your kids be the guinea pigs.

Seriously, "letmein", "monkey" and "blink182" are being used that much? I call shenanigans. Where's the birthdays or pet's name or kid's birthdays that are usually on these lists. Maybe people have gotten smarter. It's good to know, however that if you're using "monkey" you're not as clever as you thought.

Dispute Goes Overboard

An Orlando news station has reported on a husband who threw his wife overboard into the ocean when they had a fight. The wife treaded water and until another boat passed by and picker her up. The wife told police that she wanted off the boat and didn't want to press charges. The police have taken matters into their own hands and filed domestic battery charges. What a crazy week.

Bullet Hits Wedding Ring, Saves Life

Chock this one up to one of the crazier stories you've heard. A 32-year-old woman in Monte Alegre, Brazil was working in a pharmacy when a man came in and shot her point blank range. By instinct, the woman put up her hands to protect her face and the bullet richoceted off her wedding band saving her life. Unfortunately, two others were shot and killed.

NFL Network's Rich Eisen Is Compensatory Pick

Rich Eisen, the face of the NFL Network received an e-mail from Philly anchorwoman Alycia Lane. The e-mail contained seven pictures of Lane in a bikini. The problem, Lane sent the e-mails to an address Eisen shares with his wife, ABC sideline reporter Suzy Shuster. It looks like Lane was trying to draft a guy who was already under contract. Shuster commented in this article that she replied and even gave Lane her husband's solo e-mail address! Now that's trust. Again according to the article, here's the e-mail Shuster sent back:

"Boy, do you look amazing in a bikini . . . congrats! Whatever you're doing, (Pilates? yoga?) keep doing it - it's working for you. Anyway, sorry but those seven e-mails you sent to my husband, Rich, well, oops, they came to the e-mail address we both use from time to time, but no worries, I'll forward the beach shots as well as the ones of you dancing with your friends on to his main address. Do you have it?"
